Circle Time
Enjoy our signature interactive story time, featuring singing, dancing, and finger plays. Recommended for ages 6 and under.
Join us for Circle Time on weekdays* at 11:30 am. If you are visiting on a weekend, please check the "Cool Things To Do" posted inside the Museum for special Circle Time events.

Bike Maryland Bike Rodeo
Join us for the Bike Maryland Bike Rodeo where kids can learn how and why they need to wear a helmet; learn how to conduct an ABC spin check (air, brakes, chain, and spin the tire to make sure it's on properly); and ride a bike through a short safety obstacle course. 4:15 pm, 5:15 pm, and 6:15 pm

All participants must be able to ride a bike and wear a helmet. Children who cannot ride a bike may still participate in the safety learning portion of the rodeo.

    MR. POTATO HEAD Opens!
    Join the much-loved MR. POTATO HEAD character on a number of fun and educational adventures. Take a trip to outer space on the Space S.P.U.D; go on an archaeological dig with King Tato in Spud Quest; explore the deep sea with Jacques Coustato; build your own potato head, and more!

    This exotic and fanciful exhibit is designed to develop school readiness and academic skills for young children, focusing on literacy, problem solving, mathematics, science and social studies. It is based on developmental milestones set by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and national academic standards.

    Talking With Tots
    Dr. Klaus Libertus from the Kennedy Krieger Institute will present: “Normal and Abnormal Motor Development During the First 3 years” .
    Focusing on the normal stages of motor development from infancy to toddlerhood, Dr. Libertus will provide an overview of what to expect and how to encourage motor skill development.
    Parents will learn about common motor problems, such as poor postural control, low or high tone, and motor mannerisms. The potential implications of early motor problems and resources for interventions and services will be discussed. The presentation will conclude with a question and answers session.

    Talking With Tots
    Marguerite Osei-Wusu, Early Intervention Specialist at Kennedy Krieger Institute will present: “Don't read to me, read with me! Interactive story time at home.”
    Parents will learn how to make concepts in their children’s favorite books more meaningful and fun by using toys and creating fun sensory-based experiences while reading with their child. Other ideas of how to incorporate concepts from books into songs, art, and other activities will be discussed.
    The presentation will conclude with an opportunity for parents to make and take home a fun activity to go along with a favorite children’s book.
